The Sun public house is on the south side of Sun Street in Waltham Abbey. The question must be: was the pub named after the street or the street after the pub?

The sign is a green board hanging from a bracket attached to the pub's wall. At the centre of the board is a depiction of a sun with double sets of "ray" around the edge. In the centre is a picture of a face that could probably be used as a depiction of the man in the moon. The name of the pub runs along the bottom edge of the sign.
The bracket, from which the sign hangs, is made from scrolled wrought ironeork. In the centre there is an image of a right hand with the palm facing forward with the year 1856 split into two numbers each side of the hand.
