The Wayah Bald tower was built in 1937 as a fire tower by the CCC. At an elevation of 5,342 feet it is said you can see 4 states from the tower.
Take Wayah Road west from Franklin. Turn right on FR69 and go about 4.5 miles. There is a parking lot and bathrooms. The tower is a .3 mile stroll from there.
The Appalachian and Bartram trails also pass by the tower.
