The life-size bronze sculpture of Bette Sprinkle, by artist Sandra Storm, is seated on a bench. Bette is smartly dressed, shown wearing a twin set suit, with a broad rimmed hat. Many people sit with her for a photo, so she is rarely alone.
"The longtime Kissimmee resident, who passed away in March of 2004, is
remembered for the contributions she made to Kissimmee’s downtown
corridor. A life-size bronze statue of Bette Sprinkle’s likeness was unveiled.
It was sculpted by artist Sandra Storm. Bette’s husband Boyd Sprinkle
expressed his appreciation with a lovely bouquet of yellow flowers. City
Manager Mark Durbin was also on hand to share his thoughts with the crowd.
Dan Loubier, Kissimmee’s Parks and Recreation director, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
For more than 30 years, Mrs. Sprinkle owned and operated Draperies and
Interiors by Bette and Lauren. As the owner of several other buildings in the downtown area, Mrs. Sprinkle spent a great deal of her time keeping the downtown corridor trash-free. She also enjoyed watering the plants in the area.
City Manager Mark Durbin recalls, “She was practically a one-person
beautification committee for the downtown area. She was a hard worker and she cared about people.” tyext Source:
