October 13, 1805 Clark named this River Drewyers (Journal keepers often spelled words phonetically hence the name Drewyers) the river was named after Corps member George Drouillard. George was a key member of the corps. The River was later renamed Palouse river for the Palouse Indian tribe that lived there.
