Three-quarter sized statue of Carlton Foster Bond, who was an aviator in the U.S. Army Air Corps. The bronze statue has C.F. Bond wearing his flying clothing with goggles and flight cap. His scarf appears to be blowing in the wind.
Carlton Foster Bond had a long military aviation career. He joined the army in 1916 and was one of the graduates of the first classes in the aviation section of the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He twice served as commanding officer of Pearson Field at Vancouver Barracks (1929-1933, 1938-1940). He then went on to serve in the Air Corps in World War II. He retired from the Air Force in 1948 as a Colonel.
