Visitors to
Castle Crags State Park are welcomed to a very nice state park that offers a campground and many hiking trails for the outdoor enthusiast. One of the highlights within the park is a short trail to a scenic viewpoint that offers spectacular views of Castle Crags, a very large rocky outcrop made by glaciers as well as views of majestic Mt. Shasta to the north.
A short distance along the trail (after parking in a parking lot) is a placard that highlights the variety of animals that visitors here might come across. The animals highlighted on this placard are hard-to-find-animals which include the rare fisher and other seldom-seen mammals such as the ringtail, the pine martin and possibly a black bear.
