In Metamora, in the center of the village, is the Metamora Municipal Water tank.

The tank is easily visible as you approach the center of town. It is in a block bounded by Mt. Vernon, Davenport, Walnut, and Niles Streets. It is easily visible from the village green a block to the northwest.

The description from the NGS/Geocaching datasheet is as follows:

"01/01/1969 by CGS (MONUMENTED)
DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1969 (JWC) THE STATION IS THE FINIAL KNOB ATOP THE METAMORA, MUNICIPAL WATER TANK THAT IS LOCATED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF DAVENPORT AVENUE AND WALNUT STREET IN THE CITY OF METAMORA. THE TANK IS SPHERICAL IN SHAPE, SUPPORTED BY FOUR LEGS, PAINTED ALUMINUM IN COLOR AND IS 130 FEET IN HEIGHT. "

It's not possible to see the finial itself from the base or in the center of the village. The tank is now painted sky blue, and has the name of the village, "Metamora," across the face of the tank in two directions.

The tank is in good shape.
