I recovered this cadastral survey cap from 1978 in good condition. It is located on a forest road that is a short distance west of Topsy Grade Rd if you're heading south. From the stamping on the cap face, this section corner marks the point defining Sections 12 and 13 in Township 40 South, Range 6 East and Sections 7 and 18 in Range 7 East. The cap has no designation stamping but has the year '1978' stamped on its face.

To reach this survey mark, take Topsy Grade Rd heading south off of Hwy 66 (Greensprings Hwy) for approx. three miles. From there, take a dirt road west for about 700-750 feet. The cap will be located in a small grove of cedar and pine trees a short distance south of the road. The area around the cap is clearly marked with three bearing trees, one cedar bearing tree with a vertical blaze painted red, about 30 feet south of the cap. There is also a painted orange metal witness post standing close to the cap.
Type of survey mark: 3-1/4" brass cap on steel pipe

What indicators are near the mark to help people identify where it is located?:
There are three bearing trees surrounding the cap, each tree with yellow placards designating them as bearing trees. One bearing tree, a cedar tree, is located about 30 feet south of the cap and has a large vertical blaze spray-painted red with township and range info etched into its trunk. There are also pink ribbons on a few branches of the cedar trees as well as a painted orange metal witness post standing close to the cap.
