In Metamora, north of the village green is a former courthouse that has a survey disk embedded in the structure.

The courthouse is located in the center of the village, on East Partridge Street, between Davenport Street and Menard Street. The courthouse is on the north side of the road and is easily recognizable from other buildings surrounding it. The mark is embedded in the concrete base of the left most column.

The mark is a bronze disk about 4 inches in diameter, set horizontally. The text is as follows:

Inside edge: "U.S. Geological Survey - For disturbing this mark"
Inside of the above text: "Cooperation with the state - 250 dollars fine
Center Text:
"H35
1929
Elevation Above Sea [Triangle + ] Feet"

The mark is in good condition.

No other information could be found on the mark. The Geocaching web site does not have this mark as an entry. I could not find the appropriate state database that may have the mark listed.
