This flora and fauna sign provides education on the history of whaling, and how the Southern Right Whale was hunted to the brink of extinction, until measures were put into place and the whale was placed on the protected species list in 1931. Today, whales are still an important part of the South African economy, but know the emphasis is on tourism or whale watching.
The sign is alongside the walking path between the parking lot (for tourist busses) and the facility called Boulders, where the African Penguins can be viewed.
