This airport was called Johannesburg International, until 2006 when it was renamed to honor the memory of Oliver Reginald Tambo. It is now called Tambo International Airport. Located in Johannesburg, is the busiest airport on the continent and is the hub of air transportation for southern Africa. It boasts nearly 19-million passengers a year, and employs about 18,000 people. It is one of the few airports in the world that has direct, non-stop flights to six continents, and is a host for more than 40 airlines.
