"Constructed in 1898 by the Colorado Casket Company, manufacturers of "High Class Funeral Furnishings." Under the ownership of the Colorado Casket Company the first floor of the structure was used as a casket showroom while the upper story levels housed an embalming school (the first in Denver). The building was purchased in 1950 by Richard Wicks who operated the Empire Casket Company there until 1979."

Per the 1899 Corbett & Ballenger's 27th Annual Denver City Directory, Burton J. Symonds was the manager; his wife, Etta, was the bookkeeper. If you do a word search on the document, you will find many other employees who report the Colorado Casket Company as their employer. There appears to have been about a dozen employees. The building was recently renovated for the office of Leonard Rice Engineers, Inc. (visit link) .
