The first written report about the town comes from the year 1300. The Church is first mentioned in 1384. In 1792, when the city was affected by a devastating fire the original church of St. Margaret was destroyed. In 1793 it was started the construction of the new Church, it was completed in the late Baroque style in 1794. The Church was rebuilt in 1846.

Mestec Králové - první písemná zpráva o meste pochází z roku 1300. Kostel je prvne pripomínán roku 1384. V roce 1792, kdy bylo mesto postiženo nicivým požárem shorel i puvodní kostel sv. Markéty. Roku 1793 bylo zapocato se stavbou kostela nového, dokoncen byl ve stylu pozdního baroka v roce 1794. Roku 1846 byl kostel prestaven do dnešní pseudorománské podoby. U kostela se také nachází pomník obetem 1 a 2. sv. války s bystou T. G. Masaryka, socha sv. Panny Marie a socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého.
