Karel Václav Rais (January 4, 1859 – July 8, 1926) was a Czech realist novelist, author of the so-called country prose, numerous books for youth and children, and several poems.
Lázne Belohrad is a small town, situated in the region under the Giant Mountains in a beautiful, ecologically clean hollow.
In 1872 Maxmilián Dormitzer built a wooden building with three bathrooms for summer water baths. In 1885 the history of the spa began. Medical procedures are effective for the treatment of rheumatic and degenerative disorders of the motor system and also for treatment of neurological and blood-vessel disorders and burn casualties. These medical procedures are provided for both adults and children. The spa has an excellent reputation at home and abroad.

Lázne Belohrad jsou známé nejen pro své slatinné lázne, ale také jako rodište ceské spisovatele Karla Václava Raise, predstavitele realismu a tzv. venkovské prózy.
Jeho rodný domek se do dnešních dní již nedochoval, místo pouze pripomíná motiv na TZ.
Na míste puvodního domku stojí místního informacního centra. Ve meste lze navštívit i muzeum venované K. V. Raisovi, resp. vydat se na znacenou naucnou stezku "Po stopách K. V. Raise".
