La Tête d’Indien
Une légende inspirée par un rocher dont la forme rappelle celle d’un visage.
C’est à bord d’un grand voilier qu’un équipage venu d’Europe, accosta près des côtes de Saint-Georges-de-Malbaie. L’ancre fut jetée dans une petite anse située non loin de l’île Plate.
En quête d’eau douce et de fruits sauvages, quelques-uns des membres de l’équipage atteignirent le rivage. Une fois sur la terre ferme, ils aperçurent une jeune princesse indienne qui s’amusait avec de jeunes enfants. Sans doute envoutés par cette jeune fille, les hommes blancs décidèrent de la capturer. Ils l’embarquèrent alors sur le navire qui allait les ramener vers un continent lointain…
La disparition soudaine de la jeune Indienne provoqua un très grand chagrin chez son amoureux.
Encore aujourd’hui, on peut percevoir la douleur de l’Indien affligé par la perte de l’être cher. Ce visage incrusté dans la falaise est celui d’un fiancé attendant inlassablement le retour de sa bien-aimée. Dos à la mer, l’Indien attendra avec tristesse que celle-ci lui ramène l’élue de son cœur.

The Indian Head
A legend inspired by a rock like the profile of a face...
It is on board a large sailing ship that a European crew came alongside St-Georges-de-Malbaie's coast. They dropped anchor in a little cove near ile Plate.
Eager to find fresh water and berries, some of the crew members reached land. Once on dry land, they saw a young indian princess playing with children. Obviously entranced by this young girl, the white men decided to capture her. They took her on their boat and headed back to their distant continent.
They young Indian girl's sudden disappearance caused her lover very much grief...
Even today, the pain of the man afflicted by the loss of his loved one can still be perceived.
This face inlaid into the cliff is that of a fiance endlessly waiting for this lover to return. With his back turned to the sea, the Indian is sadly waiting for the waters to bring his love back.
