This art museum is located in the historic Company's Gardens, the home to numerous museums. This art museum contains collections of art from South Africa, also Dutch, Flemish, French, British and a rotating selection of special, temporary exhibits. The collections include textiles, architecture, beadwork, sculpture, paintings, photography and paper art, featuring the from the 17th to the 19th century.
The current building that houses the art museum opened to the public on November 3, 1930.
