This statue was created by sculptor Sir Thomas Brock, to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria (1887) and was placed in the garden of the House of Parliment in 1890.
The statue depicts the Queen, standing regally, in solid white.
Queen Victoria Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was born May 24, 1819 at Kensington Palace, the only child of Edward, Duke of Kent (son of George III) and Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. When her Uncle, William IV died in 1837, she was crowned Queen, on June 28, 1838, at the age of 18 years. She married Prince Albert in 1840 and they had nine children. She reigned over sixty years, dying on January 22, 1901 at Osbourne, Isle of Wight at the aged of 81.
