The Bradford Masonic Hall company was formed in 1876 to purchase this building which was then occupied by the "Schiller-Verein", a German club in Rawson Square.
At the top of the building above an arched window is a relief carving of the head of the German poet, dramatist and philosopher Friedrich Schiller and above that the words 'Masonic Hall 1876'.
Various lodges used the building from 1876 onwards until by 1907 nine lodges were all sharing the building and a new company, the Freemasons' Hall (Westgate) Co. Ltd. was formed to lease and adapt the nearby Westgate Baptist Chapel for Masonic purposes.
The details of the lodges that shared the building are as follows.
