Not much has changed from the postcard to the current picture. In place of the houses to the right of the church is a Verizon CO.

About the church
Dedicated on November 13, 1833, the First Evangelical Congregation Church is a wonderful example of Greek Revival architectural and remains nearly unaltered. It is a timber framed building setting on a granite foundation. The facade has a central arched windonw flanked by 2 tall doorways, all set behind a portico of four Ionic coluns. In general there has been no substanial changes to the church since 1855.

The Church was formed in 1831-1832 because of dispute between the "liberal and Calvinistic" branches of the the First Church of Uxbridge. As with many other towns, this difference in ideology was brought out by the proposed hiring of a new minister, whose beliefs ran counter to some of the congregation. David A Grosvenor was selected as an assistant to Pastore Samuel Judson's. Part of the congregation refused to approve this additional person. This called a split in the congreagation with some moving to Taft's Hall until the First Evangelical Congregation Church could be built.
