Located on a tower above the Cremona Village Office is this outdoor warning siren.
The village of Cremona is located northwest of Calgary, Alberta on the Cowboy Trail, Highway 22. Before Stony Trail in Calgary, the link of Cochrane, Cremona and Carstairs were a route from the TransCanada Highway to Highway 2 north to Edmonton.
The village describes their history as:
"Cremona had its beginnings when one of its pioneers (Mr and Mrs Smith Jackson) opened a store and Post Office 1 and 1/2 miles east of its present location in the year 1906. Mrs Jackson was widowed and later married Mr P A Bird. Together they raised a family and lived in Cremona until 1960. Mrs Jackson, along with her good friend Mrs Caroline Reid named their new village Cremona after Cremona Italy, home of the Stradivarius Violins which were made there. When the railway came through in the 1930s, Cremona moved to its present site and was incorporated a village in January 1955. Situated on a south-westerly slope, Cremona residents have a panoramic view of the beautiful Rocky Mountains."
