The South Beach Interpretive Boardwalk leads to an overlook with interpretive signs. There are four signs at this location. Two deal with the formation and changes to South Beach caused by the Yaquina Bay jetties. This is one of two which deal with the biological changes. The title is “From whales to deer in 100 years” and deals with the changes in the wildlife at this site as the marine ecosystem shifted to the west due to the advancing shoreline over the last 100 years.
