In Peoria, at the intersection of Prospect Street and E War Memorial Drive, is Emo's Dairy Mart.
Emo's Dairy Mart is a small stand-alone store on the southeast corner of the intersection. The store faces the intersection and is topped by a large two-sided sign that is a profile of a clown. The clown's nose blinks.
Menus are posted. There are lots of flavors - see picture included. You can have a cone or a sundae. There are also non-ice cream options like hot dogs and hot tamale pies.
Emo's is open only seasonally, from sometime in March through Labor Day (we were there on the second to last day it was open). As a measure of its popularity, when it opens, local media take note (see link below). Of course, it helps when they donate proceeds on the first day to a charity.
It's good ice cream - worth a stop.
