The memorial takes the form of an elaborately floriated cross on gothic column, square plinth and a two step cruciform base and was designed by Cecil G Hare.

It was unveiled in May 1921 and has a bronze dedication plaque together with separate plaques with the names of the dead from the parish.

A second plaque was later added after the end of the second world war.

The First World War Plaque has the following text
IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL
MEMORY OF THE MEN OF
THIS PARISH AND NEIGH-
BOURHOOD, WHO, IN THE
GREAT WAR, 1914-1919, GAVE
THEIR LIVES IN THE CAUSE
OF LIBERTY AND RIGHT.
"THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE"
The Second World War Plaque has the following text
ALSO TO THE MEN WHO FELL
IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR
