As the plaque reads:

Jean Louis Legare (1841-1918) was founder of Willow Bunch, where he settled in 1880 after ten years as a fur-trader at Wood Mountain. He operated a store, a ranch, a cheese factory and a post office. He cunducted Sitting Bull and 200 Sioux Indians back to the United States in 1881.
