In Springfield, in Oak Ridge Cemetery, is Lincoln's tomb, which has a near exact replica of Daniel Chester French's Abraham Lincoln which is within the Lincoln Memorial.
Lincoln's tomb is located well within the cemetery; however, there are signs to the tomb and the tomb towers well above other monuments and trees. Enter the tomb through the main door. The sculpture is right there in front of you as you make your way through.
The sculpture is about three feet tall and deep and is on a raised platform of green stone. Lincoln is sitting on a large chair, with a flag draped around him. His right leg is out further than his left.
According to the staff person there, this study sculpture is one of a few around. It is a near exact replica of the final form in the memorial. The staff person mentioned that the flag is arranged slightly differently in this model.
Technically, this study sculpture preceded the stone sculpture, but the stone sculpture is the final form that is more well-known. The final sculpture is 28 ft tall from foot to head.
