While visiting the Castlegar Fire Hall to see their vintage trucks, we were kindly allowed by the Fire Chief to photograph all their equipment. He didn't have to make the offer twice.

This pumper, one of three at this station, is a 1994 Volvo-Anderson model FE42. It has a 1,050 gallon tank and a 1,000 gallon per minute pump to quickly empty that tank. Manufactured by Anderson's Engineering of Langley, BC, its serial number is #93EENJ94002630. Both of Castlegar's Anderson Pumpers have transverse control panels affording improved visibility and accessibility for the operator.

Though Anderson's made their first tanker in 1970, production began in earnest later, in 1974. In the next 26 years they produced over 400 trucks, before going into bankruptcy in 2000. Though most of their production remained in Canada, units were exported to Guam, Saipan and industrial and mining operations in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
