The peak of a bluff in RIVERVIEW CEMETERY, on the northern edge of Louisiana, provides a magnificent view of the winding Mississippi River, and the park-like bottom lands of Pike County, Illinois. On the south and west, partially wooded "camel-hump" knobs sweep in endless procession against the horizon.. - Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me" State, Tour  15, pg. 553.

The cemetery continues as an active cemetery and has several thousand graves.  The southeast portion affords the best viewpoint as it is high on the bluff with a great view of the Mississippi River.

An interesting side note is that the Governor of Missouri at the time the Guide was written and author of the forward for the Guide, Lloyd C. Stark, is buried in this cemetery.  His grave his is located at the top of the bluff at N39° 27.567' W91° 3.435'
