The church St. Stephan in Therwil was built before 1631. The cemetery was originally located inside the small churchyard on all three sides of the church, except in the west, where the main entrance is. Later the cemetery was extended to the south, the last time in 2005.
The cemetery has about 250 graves. At the northern border wall, next to st. Anna's chapel there are the headstones of some former priests of Therwil. One of the inspriptions says: "Hier ruht in Gott / Hochw. Herr (R.K. ??) Hegglin / Seelsorger dieser Gemeinde von 25. Aug 1886 - 12. April 1890 / R.I.P (Here rests in God Reverend [??] Hegglin, pastoral caregiver of this community 1886-1890 R.I.P.)"
