In Peoria's downtown section is the Peoria Riverfront Museum, which has a sculpture garden on the southeast side.

The museum is located at the corner of Adams Street and Liberty Street. There is parking available in a garage beside the museum as well as on street parking (fees apply at both locations).

The sculpture garden is on the Adams Street side. It is on the museum grounds, and it is wide open to the sidewalk. Though it is open to the sidewalk, generally, it is expected that it is open for walking around during daylight hours.

The waymark is at the corner where there is a sculpture, as well as the sign for the museum. There is no separate sign for the garden. There is a web page for the garden, however (link provided below). The garden area is rectangular in shape, bounded on 2 1/2 sides by the museum itself. There is a stairway on the right that leads to a plaza where you can either enter the museum or look at the garden from above. As you walk the grounds, music can be heard from several speakers placed all around.

The web site shows eleven sculptures that are there. Most of the photos were not at the right location, so it was confusing whether these sculptures were at the garden or part of the tour that is described at the bottom of the page. However, I remember having seen most of these sculptures and have pictures of several of them.

Toward the museum end but in the center of the grassy area is a fountain of a merman entwined with a merwoman (not on the page) supporting a globe. Others include a stainless steel and copper combination, and a composition of columns and arches.

The museum opened only a few years ago. The garden looks pretty sparse at the moment, but I'm sure that as the years go on, more sculptures will be added.
