Miss Robiette runs a ballet school and is about to loose her richest pupil, Monica, because she finds one of her mirrors evil. Lovejoy is called in to exchange the mirror for one that Monica finds acceptable.

Meanwhile Lady Jane is avoiding Lovejoy, because she doesn’t know how to tell him that Lord Felsham has gone bust and the Hall is to be sold. Lovejoy eventually catches up with her at the specialist mirror shop, that he has taken Miss Bodiette’s mirror to be valued.

Whilst at the mirror shop Lovejoy gets a good idea when a customer asks for a mirror to be re-glazed. Lovejoy offers to have the glass replaced by his old friend, Roderick Frew. Roderick will replace the glass and then Lovejoy can find another frame and create another old mirror, repeating the cycle. Eric is despatched to find a replacement frame.

Monica has to approve the new mirror and is taken to the mirror shop. She sees the old mirror and rushes out of the shop. On the way home she sees a mirror at the side of the road and decides it is the one for her. Eric and Tinker buy the mirror off the bin men and take it to Roderick to restore it. Unfortunately the mirror is broken.

All round, everybody starts to think the Bodiette mirror is jinxed. As Felsham Hall is being emptied by Lord Felsham’s receivers Lovejoy manages to swap the Bodiette mirror for one of Lady Jane’s.
