The opening scene of Ulysses is set at Sandycove Martello Tower (now James Joyce museum). On occassion of Bloomsday Centenary in 2004, Sandycove Tidy Towns Committee placed a granite welcome sign at Glasthule Road. The Ulysses quote reads:

- We can drink it black, Stephen said thirstily. There's a lemon in the locker.
- O, damn you and your Paris fads! Buck Mulligan said. I want Sandycove milk.
Address:
Corner of Glasthule Road and Marine Avenue Sandycove Ireland
