1888: Frank Edward McGurrin, a court stenographer from Salt Lake City, Utah, purportedly the only person using touch typing at this time, wins a decisive victory over Louis Traub in a typing contest held in Cincinnati, Ohio. This date can be called the birthday of the touch typing method that is widely used now.
1898: The Sabi Game Reserve in South Africa, the first officially designated game reserve, is created.
1908: The Children's Encyclopedia begins publication in London.
1918: Moscow becomes the capital of Soviet Russia.
1928: The animated short Plane Crazy is released by Disney Studios in Los Angeles, featuring the first appearances of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
