2005 was the centennial year for Rotary International. Each club was encouraged to make a special effort to commemorate the centennial with a special project. The Minden club chose to erect this flagpole in the neighboring town of Gardnerville to commemorate two anniversaries in one. Senator Harry Reid addressed the Senate on March 24, 2004 to wish Gardnerville a happy anniversary.
