"On this spot stood Dobbs County courthouse 1758-1791. The following counties were formed from Dobbs. Greene (formerly Glasgow) 1779, Wayne 1779, Lenoir 1791. Erected by Wayne County Committee North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames of America 1935."

On Dobbs County Courthouse Road toward deadend, on right shoulder.
