A 32" by 16" by 16" bronze figure of a the panther named Bagheera and an owl are positioned on a 57" high and 60" diameter circular polished granite base. The sculpture sits in the center of a four-lobed granite basin lined with bricks. The sculpture was created by Lillian Saarinen. The fountain was installed in the Boston Public Garden in 1986.

The sculpture is inspired by characters Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.. Bagheera is shown sitting on his hind legs while reaching up with his right paw to touch the right wing of an owl in flight. Bagheera's long tail curves back towards his left front leg.

Water flows up from holes in the circular base and flows down into the four-lobed basin below.
