Between 1885 and 1954, the voices of these bells called thousands of Vacaville students to class in Vacaville High School and the adjacent Vacaville Ulatis Grammar School. The ornate wood frame buildings each with a majestic belfry commanded the overlook that is now Andrews Park. Over time, as each of the schools were torn down, their bells were salvaged and preserved by the family of Helen Harbison Power of the Nut Tree. They were presented to the citizens of Vacaville as material links to the community;s pasts and to its proud educational heritage."
