This 1/4 section corner by the USDA Forest Service is located along National Forest Route 42N15 in Siskiyou County, CA.

I recovered this USDA Forest Service 1/4 section corner from 1987 in good condition. It is a cadastral disk monumented on top of a 2" metal pipe and produces about 10 inches above the ground. There is a metal witness post behind (north) the disk and the mark is surrounded by small lava rocks at its base. The disk is located about 20 feet north of Forest Route 42N15. The disk contains the following stamping on its face:
T42N R4W (Township 42 North, Range 4 West)
C 1/4 (1/4 Section Corner)
S-21 (Section 21)
LS 5240 (Designation)
1987
My posted coordinates will place you close to this disk. To reach this section corner, take a right turn onto Forest Service Route 42N15 at coordinates:
41.28.60.0
122.20.30.1
Then proceed east on 42N15 for approx. 1.5 miles until you get to railroad tracks. Proceed east across railroad tracks and travel approx. 1000 feet to mark on the left (north) of the road.
Type of survey mark: 2-1/2" aluminum cap on iron pipe set in rocky mound
What indicators are near the mark to help people identify where it is located?:
The corner is about 1000' E of railroad tracks and along Route 42N15. There is a metal witness post with a yellow sign reading 'LAND SURVEY MONUMENT' which is visible from the road. Monument is about 20 feet north of the road.
