On September 11, the Volunteer Firefighter's Brigade of Prague 1 and Cultural Attaché of the U.S. Embassy Prague, David Gainer, unveiled a plaque dedicated to the memory of the 343 New York firefighters who lost their lives on the September 11th, 2001.

The plaque, which is located on Kampa Island near Charles Bridge, is the first memorial in Prague that commemorates the heroism of these firefighters.
