Located at the summit of Calimus Butte is a sign by Winema National Forest to describe the historic Calimus Butte Lookout House which is registered as a National Historic Lookout. The sign displays the elevation of this summit at 6622 feet and mentions that lookout as constructed in 1920 by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This summit was once part of an Indian reservation but is now managed by Winema National Forest. The drive up to this lookout and summit is definitely worth it and spectacular views of forestlands below will be your reward.
