The Model D tractor had the longest production life of any tractor, being manufactured from 1923 to 1953. Because of its unusual timing of firing the cylinders the engine made a distinctive popping sound earning this tractor the nickname "Poppin' Johnny". This particular tractor was probably from late in the production cycle for this model.
