In the town's center is the two-and-a-half-story, red-brick MADISON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, built in the modified Romanesque design of the early 1900's.. - Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me" State, Tour  12, pg. 529.

The Madison County Courthouse was built in 1900.  The 2 1/2 story building is constructed of red brick and pink Missouri granite.  The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.  It continues to serve as the county's courthouse.
