Long Description:


This quarry and others (all closed) in the area have operated for over 50 years. Earliest quarries mined the pumice, currently the materials tuff and pumice are mainly used for construction fill. This pit is well known in the geologic community for it's exposures of Tumalo Tuff and Bend Pumice (~380,000 yrs), and Desert Springs Tuff (~650,000 yrs).
