Canning Dam construction started in 1933 and was opened in 1940. It was build to supply drinking water to the city of Perth.
At the time of construction it was noted for it's innovative structural
and hydraulic design that was considered to be at the forefront of concrete gravity dam design.
The dam is 66 mts high and 466 mts.
