This school house still stands, but all shut up. It is used for storage. The original school building, seen in
these 1898 photos from rootsweb, was destroyed many years ago and a newer one rebuilt, as seen in my photos.
This autobiography by Carl E. Ferguson, born in 1913, mentions his mother Flora, born in 1887, who taught at the House School for 10 years. The biography also has further interest in that it contains history of Barry County and Butterfield, and the Missouri Land Company of Scotland.
Finally, having heard of a teacher at this school, this 2006 newpaper article contains an obituary notice of a Wilma Holt Bailey Reed who was a student at House School.
