This bunker at Camp Hayden was to protect the entrance to and shipping in Puget Sound and Juan de Fuca Strait, to support the beach defense of US territory, and to assist the Canadian defence of Vancouver Island.
It is now part of the Salt Creek Recreation Area, and there is camping very close by.
