Here on Pa. State Game Lands is where we chased a “Ghost Light” for several hours in 1969. There are reportedly many strange lights & luminous figures in this area. Our light was a greenish white & seemed to react to us.

A group of us were camped on a friend's farm when JB saw a light in the distance up the hollow. The light went on & off, now & again, until we decided to walk over & see it. Each time we (or one of us) approached the light would disappear for a while & reappear some random time later. In Nov. 69 there was less undergrowth, more grass, & some grape arbors in this area.

Three local "explanations" are:
The ghosts of the Gerhardt Family are believed to roam the valley at night.
And the Ghost of Inn Keeper, Matthias Schmbacher.
A luminous ten-foot- tall man, probably associated with the Lenni Lenape Ceremonial Ring, has been reported by drivers along the road to the mountaintop.

While I have heard these stories many times from many people, & seen them in print & on the internet more often in the last 20 years, these may only be archetypal ghost stories.

In 1969 several of us saw & chased this diffuse greenish white light off & on for about 2 hours up & down a road. It disappeared repeatedly when approached.
Our light was round, and diffuse about 3" to 12" in apparent size & disappeared when any of us were within about 60' of it.
For that light we have no explanation. However at that time I suspected a person playing games with an unusual light source.
Although I have no idea how they wouldn't have been seen in such an opened area (along the road), with the lights we had. The light was seen within about 500' of the coordinates & within about 30' of the road about a 50' long part of the road at varied times.

There are great views of the mountains if you go to the hilltop fields on the game lands above.

BTW if you can explain our light or see any ghosts let us know.

Enjoy the scenery & have fun
