I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey triangulation station from 1971 in good condition. It is imbedded in a round concrete post and flush with the ground and SW of a former lookout tower on a forested hill. The station has the stamping of 'MODOC RMA' and the year '1971' on the disk face. It is located about 40 feet S/SW of MODOC triangulation station (NY0948). This station also appears on a topography map as 'MODOC RMA'.

It is highly suggested that a 4x4 vehicle with good ground clearance be utilized for the trip up to this station since the last mile contains some rocky terrain. The to-reach info from the last good log in 1971 is out-of-date. I've updated the info as best I can to get to this station.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1971 (WMJ) THE STATION IS LOCATED 18 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF KLAMATH FALLS, 9 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CHILOQUIN, 2 MILES EAST OF MODOC POINT AND ON A TREE COVERED HILL. THE STATION MARKS ARE STANDARD DISKS STAMPED MODOC RM A 1971. THE SURFACE DISK IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH ROUND CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH IS FLUSH WITH GROUND. IT IS 17 FEET WEST OF AN 18-INCH PINE TREE. THE UNDERGROUND DISK IS SET IN CONCRETE ABOUT 42 INCHES BELOW GROUND SURFACE. NOTE--1B7A. FOR A ROUTE TO REACH SEE THE RECOVERY NOTE FOR MODOC 1967.

TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE COURT HOUSE IN KLAMATH FALLS GO SOUTH ON MAIN STREET AND U.S. HIGHWAY 97 BUSINESS ROUTE FOR 0.3 MILE TO JUNCTION WITH U.S. HIGHWAY 97. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH ON HIGHWAY 97 FOR 2.3 MILES TO THE OVERPASS OF BUSINESS ROUTE 97. CONTINUE NORTHERLY ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 9.8 MILES TO HAGELSTEIN ROADSIDE PARK ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE NORTH FOR 0.05 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD ON THE RIGHT AND GREEN SIGN (NF 9714). TURN RIGHT AS PER SIGN AND GO EAST AND NORTH ON BLADED ROAD UPHILL FOR 1.9 MILES TO A FORK. TAKE LEFT FORK AND GO NORTHERLY ON BLADED ROAD FOR 1.20 MILES TO ANOTHER FORK. TAKE LEFT FORK AND GO NORTHERLY ON THE MAIN ROAD FOR 2.05 MILES TO A FORK AND A TELEPHONE LINE CROSSING. TAKE RIGHT FORK AND GO EASTERLY ON WOODS ROAD FOR 0.75 MILE TO A REVERSE Y-FORK. TURN SHARP LEFT AND GO NORTHERLY ON WOODS ROAD FOR 0.9 MILE TO TOP OF HILL AND STATION AS DESCRIBED.
