I live in Fort Worth, Texas, where barbecue is a priority subject. One of the best places to for the stuff is Railhead.
This joint is located right off the I-30 interstate at Montgomery Street. Easy on and off the freeway.
The original Railhead was located several miles from its original location. It was a tumble-down shack on Vickery, which runs alongside the vast railroad yard in Fort Worth, hence the name Railhead, I suppose. The barbecue in that old shack was awesome. And they did not lose their touch when they moved up to nicer digs.
I live only a number of blocks away from Railhead. There are always lots of people there. The place is usually packed, and they have a great patio that is always filled with people in the evenings.
Many people in Fort Worth will point you to this place for the best barbecue in town. Other folks will point you to one of several other excellent joints in town.
You ask people in Fort Worth where the best barbecue is, and some good percentage will tell you Railhead. Others will say Angelo's. Others would say Soda Springs. My favorite, actually, is Spring Creek. Awesome ribs there, and I am a rib fan (and good cole slaw).
Hours: 11am - 9pm, Monday through Saturday.
