This Chimney is all that remains of what once looked like a beautiful location for a homestead.

Walking around in Pulpit Rock Park, sometimes known as Pulpit Rock Open Space you might stumble across this lonely solitary chimney just below the south side of Pulpit Rock. There is very little history about this location other than some urban legend.
This is how it is told....
It was the location of a Colorado Homestead from the early 1900's. With the great views of Pike's Peak and the Rocky Mountain Front Range this I can envision.
With the Pulpit Rock Ridge to the north and the relatively flat lands to the south and south west I would have placed a farm-stead here.
The story continues that it was an active farm-stead up through the early 1940 when it was abandoned and the area was purchased by the nearby University for future expansion. During the period following that purchase it became neglected and also became the shelter for a local vagrant / hermit because of its relatively isolated location. This I could see as well.
Now the area is Pulpit Rock Park so the Univeristy land purchase seems to loose some credence. Oh, well, it is a story and this is how it is told.
Now all that stands of this old farm-stead is foundation blocks and this chimney.
Any actual history about this location would be greatly appreciated and the waymark would be updated with such.
For those that want a preview of this location then this
..LINK.. will give a pretty good satellite view of the chimney.
