Trinity Lutheran Church was founded in 1839 by Saxon immigrants. The current church building was built beginning in 1866 and completed in 1867. The building replaces an earlier 1845 church which has now been incorporated into the nearby Heritage Center and Museum.

The current church is constructed of limestone which was quarried about three miles from the church. The building was constructed under the supervision of J. P. Beyer. The church features a barrel vaulted ceiling and long side galleys supported by columns.

The church has a school located nearby.
